Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for Avengers: Infinity War
-
James Gunn talks about the lack of Kraglin in Avengers: Infinity War. Played by the filmmaker’s brother, Sean Gunn, Yondu’s former right-hand man has been trailing the Guardians of the Galaxy for quite a while, helping here and there in executing their mission. But for some reason, he wasn’t with Star-Lord and his squad once the Avengers 3 rolls around prompting fans to ask about his whereabouts.
Similar to Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hawkeye and some other characters such Valkyrie and Korg, Kraglin was one of the missing players during the Avengers’ and their newfound allies’ epic battle against Thanos, who was attempting to wipe out half of the universe believing that it’s for the greater good. Unfortunately, the heroes failed in their endeavors and the Mad Titan successfully executed his plan, but not without the tease that there’s more to his story when Avengers 4 comes next year.
Taking to Twitter to interact with fans, Gunn addressed Kraglin’s absence in Infinity War by saying that he’s off doing other stuff. Shortly after, fans have started speculating what he’s probably doing, while others hilariously predict that he, alongside all the other missing characters from the movie will save the day in Avengers 4. Despite the lack of Kraglin, however, Sean was still a part of the latest ensemble flick playing the stand-in mo-cap for Rocket Raccoon. Check out the director’s tweet above.
Gunn didn’t elaborate more on Kraglin’s whereabouts. The last time fans saw him was at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as he inherited Yondu’s Yaka arrow, but at one point, he separates from the team considering that on top of being in the film, there wasn’t even a mention of him. It’s important to note, however, that the events of Infinity War take place four years after follow-up film, so who knows where he went, or if he’s half of the universe who survived the famous Thanos snap.
It’s unclear if Kraglin’s secret side-mission will have a direct impact on next year’s Avengers 4, but if not, chances are that whatever he’s doing now has something to do with Gunn’s narrative for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2020. Perhaps he joined the other Ravagers who were present during Yondu’s funeral, and it’s curious to know whether or not they’ll have a significant presence in the threequel. For now, Kraglin will be included in the group of characters whose fates are currently unknown following Thanos defeating the Avengers.
