James Gunn is warning fans to stay clear of Avengers: Infinity War’s spoilers and surprises. Marvel Studios is inching closer to pulling the veil off of their biggest film yet. After 10 years of building the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio brought together every single hero they have in order to try and stop Thanos. It’s a crossover event fans have wanted to see for years, and the trailers have only increased interest in the film.

But, with the movie set to start screening at the beginning of next week, that means that reviews and reactions will start to make their way online soon. While some are eager to hear if Infinity War lives up to the hype, others are weary of the spoilers that could surface as a result.

In a move to send one final message to fans, Guardians of the Galaxy director and Infinity War producer Gunn offered up some advice. His tip is simple but teases us all the same. If you want to make sure nothing extra surfaces, Gunn says everyone should stay off social media just to be careful of having the movie’s surprises spoiled:

Gunn knows first-hand just what kinds of surprises and spoilers could leak because he’s one of the few people to have already seen the movie. Unlike the cast, Gunn saw the final product about a month ago and immediately shared his brief thoughts on how ‘incredible’ it is. Not only that, he followed it up saying he couldn’t stop thinking about how good the movie is. Even without seeing the film, he knew what would happen as he wrote some dialogue for Infinity War. Gunn has since been working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s script.

#AvengersInfinityWar opens in ONE WEEK. Just a reminder that there are many amazing surprises and spoilers in the film. So if you want to go into the film without too much info be careful on social networking and what you read online. #Assemble!— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) April 20, 2018

This warning isn’t the first to come from someone involved that there are massive surprises and spoilers in Infinity War. The Russo brothers previously wrote a note using the hashtag #ThanosDemandsYourSilence, asking fans to enjoy the movie and the discussion that will follow, but be mindful not to ruin the experience for anyone else. It was in that letter that they said only a few people know the true plot of Infinity War, which has only brought out even more theories about what happens.

The timeline to avoid Infinity War spoilers is simple. The world premiere is Monday night and social media reactions are allowed immediately following the screening. On Tuesday, more screenings will take place and the actual review embargo will lift. It will be dependent on those who see the movie early to not accidentally reveal any previously-unknown elements. Still, those who want to be extra careful may just need to avoid the topic altogether until the movie hits theaters worldwide next weekend.
