He might be a part of an entirely separate DC franchise, but Jason is Momoa helping in promoting Arrowverse’s “Elseworlds” crossover. The former Game of Thrones star has been busy doing the press rounds for his upcoming James Wan-directed film, Aquaman where he fully dives into Arthur Curry’s responsibility as the rightful king of Atlantis. But he was able to take a moment from his busy schedule to help support DCTV’s special TV event.
There’s a lot going on in this year’s Arrowverse crossover. Despite the subtitle’s narrative implication, the events of “Elseworlds” will actually factor in the ongoing timeline, paving the way for Kate Kane aka. Batwoman’s (Ruby Rose) initial introduction on the small screen before starring in her own TV show. Earth-1’s reality is in jeopardy as The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) attempts to pull the same stunt he did that resulted in the destruction of Earth-90’s reality. Due to his manipulations, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) wake up in each other’s bodies as the Green Arrow and the Flash.
Much of The CW’s marketing for “Elseworlds” centers on the persona swap between Oliver and Barry, and understandably so considering that it’s perhaps the most intriguing part of the crossover. But they take their promotional efforts up a notch by tapping Momoa to star in a short clip to promote both Aquaman and Arrowverse’s new event. Check it out below:
Based on what’s known so far, The Monitor is getting help from Arkham Asylum doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davies), which will effectively incorporate Gotham City and Batwoman in “Elseworlds” narrative. Meanwhile, as Barry and Oliver try to operate in each other’s bodies especially since their respective friends and family struggle to see the absurd situation, they get a helping hand from Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) who realizes the problem right away. She and her cousin Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) are expected to play an important part in the crossover especially with the introduction of an evil Man of Steel thanks to the villain’s attempt at messing the reality.
As for Momoa, he’ll continue doing promotional rounds for Aquaman with Wan and the rest of the film’s cast. Initial buzz for the movie has been nothing but positive with critics lauding its stunning visuals and narrative. Days before it hits theaters in North America, it’s already scored a huge opening in China, which is one of the biggest international movie markets in the world. Considering all this, it’s safe to say that Warner Bros. has another superhero film hit on their hands. It’s the perfect way to return in the comic book movie arena after taking more than a year hiatus following the financial disappointment that was Justice League.
