The Bachelorette’s Jed Wyatt opens up about his post-Bachelorette life and how he just wanted to be alone after his secret girlfriend drama that ended his engagement with Hannah Brown. The musician had a bad rap after the nation heard about his secret and the ex-fiancé of Brown had a hard time adjusting to life after the show.

Bachelor Nation knows Wyatt for being the man who swooned Brown through serenading her with music from his guitar. Things were going amazing for the pair as she turned down runners-up Tyler Cameron and Peter Weber. She said yes when he proposed to her and the two lived happily together until five-weeks into the engagement, when Wyatt’s ex-girlfriend, Haley Stevens, revealed that The Bachelorette winner was dating her for four months when he went on the show. She claimed that she and Wyatt were dating, even still exchanging “I love you” to each other, when he left to be on the show, promising he would be back and the show was only a platform for his budding music career. When Brown found out about Stevens, she called off the engagement to Wyatt in front of television cameras and the whole nation to see.

Apparently, Wyatt had a hard time adjusting to all of the negative press and tabloid stories about himself that followed for the months after The Bachelorette finale. He opened up to Us about how crazy the last few months have been and how he coped with it by being alone. Wyatt explained that he lost all motivation when it came to playing music, he said, “with how crazy everything was, it was honestly kind of hard for me.”  The former Bachelorette contestant said that the only thing he wanted to do was “being alone or journaling or going fishing.”

The singer-songwriter wasn’t able to turn his heartache into art, however, though it wasn’t due to a lack of trying, as Wyatt explains, “for some reason, I couldn’t get the pen to paper to write or be creative like that. It was just such a low spot. I’d sit down and try to write, try to play and my head wasn’t in it.” With the many outlets picking up his ex story in the last few months following The Bachelorette finale, it’s no wonder that the man, who went from the most loved contestant to the most hated in a matter of days, had a hard time adjusting to life after the show. He did mention in the interview that he feels “a lot better” and like he’s “coming out of the clouds with everything.” He explained how nice it is to finally get out of the creative fog that he’s been under for months, and finally “have that kind of motivated feeling again.”

Even though this season of The Bachelorette ended with a lot of unexpected twists and turns, it seems like even though Brown and Wyatt have had a hard time adjusting to life post-Bachelorette, that they have made the best out of the circumstances, for better or for worse. With Brown dancing on Dancing with the Stars and Wyatt getting back into his singing/songwriting again, it looks as though they can start moving on from their whirlwind romance.
