Actress Jennifer Aniston joins Instagram and posts a Friends reunion picture. The NBC series aired from 1994 to 2004, and has remained popular in recent years due to its streaming availability on Netflix.

On Friends, Aniston rose to fame by portraying the endearing Rachel Green, a young woman looking for personal and professional happiness in New York City. The series helped Aniston immediately breakthrough into feature films, most notably in romantic comedies and the 1999 cult classic Office Space. Since then, she’s sustained a steady career in mainstream movies, and founded the production company Echo Films in 2008. For Friends, Aniston won both a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2019, she starred opposite Adam Sandler in the Netflix film Murder Mystery. Aniston is the daughter of television performers Nancy Dow (The Beverly Hillbillies) and John Aniston (Days of Our Lives).

Aniston officially joined Instagram on October 15 and posted a Friends reunion photo, which includes Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing). Aniston captions the photo with “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM,” and subsequently crashed Instagram, as various users have reportedly been unable to find Aniston’s account or even follow it. In the posted image, Aniston poses front and center, looking very much like her Friends character. The other cast members appear over Aniston’s shoulder, and the group appears to be at someone’s home, or possibly a restaurant (Aniston wisely didn’t tag the location). Within two hours of joining Instagram, Aniston’s photo has received over 100,000 comments and nearly 2 million likes. Check out the post below.

On November 1, Aniston returns to television with The Morning Show, an Apple TV+ series co-starring Reese Witherspoon. Both actresses serve as executive producers, with the narrative following the daily drama at a popular news network. Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, and Mark Duplass co-star in The Morning Show, along with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Karen Pittman. Apple released an official trailer last August, and the series will undoubtedly be a main attraction for the new service, one that will join the Streaming Wars shortly before Disney+ launches on November 12.

A true pop culture icon, Aniston will bring an international fanbase to The Morning Show. And now that she’s on Instagram, a younger generation may perhaps be inspired to experience Friends for the first time. While the famous NBC series certainly isn’t known for its diversity and representation, it does spotlight ‘90s trends in American culture, and shows why Jennifer Aniston became such a massive star.
